There are so many possibilities!

Like all of the Rampant products, the Matte Transitions are awesome to have in your back pocket when you take that project at a lower rate than you should have. When the producer asks for more flare or more pop, jump into your RDT arsenal and instantly create unique looks in half an hour instead of hours. The Matte Transitions are particularly useful to me for sizzle reels and poppy short form content. In Avid I’ll sometimes import them, throw a 0% timewarp on them to essentially make a freeze frame, add the Matte Key effect on it, place my video underneath it, change it’s color to be something that stands out, and keep the original footage on the bottom to make a unique composite. To take it one step further i might throw a reposition on the RDT Matte Transition to give it some movement.

Matte Transitions are flexible!

Matte Transitions are flexible! I tinted one to my client’s secondary color palette from their brand guidelines and was able to create a transitional element and a section header graphic from the same pieces. So easy to adjust and keep editing!

I love these things!

The Matte Transitions are so cool! They make for very quick, and easy wipes right out of the box, so to speak. But, like everything Rampant makes, they can be manipulated in many ways to take the look further. I’m a graphic designer and I use After Effects, so I like to apply affects to them to punch them up a little bit. For instance, I’ll use a matte to make the transition, but then duplicate the matte layer and apply some effects to it. One cool thing to do is to use “Find Edges” to get an outline along the edges of the wipe. Then other effects can be added and experimented with to create unique looks.

Or I could take a frame somewhere in the middle of the transition and freeze-frame it. Then I’d have an interesting shape that could be the base for a completely different kind of graphic. And there are tons of them to choose from, so the possibilities really are endless.
